The Founders

The Herrnstein Family Foundation was established in 2013 by Jim and Robin Herrnstein.  Both founders hold doctorates in astrophysics from Harvard University and spent many years engaged in scientific research before transitioning away from traditional academic careers.

HFF's approach is deeply informed by their background - with a priority for curiosity, rigor, and a deep respect for evidence - while their personal values bring a perspective of humility, responsibility, and long-term commitment.  They envision the foundation as a way to contribute thoughtfully and consistently to efforts that support health, education, and environmental stewardship, with an eye toward creating meaningful, positive change for future generations.
